After Death's Silence Joseph Lisowski

Still Life

Grief is an amputated hand,
blood fast running out.

Each cell aches for connection,
finding air, then a numbing.

Edges curl back, first blue,
then grey, finally black.

It becomes a lifeless thing—
hard, in slow measure, ash.
