The 2River View, 3_3 (Spring 1999) Matt Welter reads over 200 small press books a year, the best 13 of which he recognizes with the Pippistrelle Best of the Small Press Awards. Welter feels that finding a quality publication is as fleeting as an encounter with the pippistrelle, Italian for little bat. Thus the name of the award.
