In the Glare

Gregory Betts

I'm well aware that she believed me
20,000 feet over the Arctic
sheer glare of the sun
and ten thousand miles of glacial rock exposed
the plane reflected from the snow
her face beside me
where we were carved into the stone
ice surface
from so high I saw her face
carved there forever
